The Count And Sinden – Strange Things (R1 Ryders Funkitek Remix)

Published by Mungo on November 28, 2009

You should all know what to expect from The Count and Sinden, well at least I hope you do. The production dream team of The Count (Herve) and Sinden (well…Sinden), were behind 2008’s Beeper, which sampled The Cool Kids and featured Kid Sister. Here they’re back with a new single, Strange Things. We have the R1 Ryders Funkitek remix for you here in 128k promo form, so if you like it please follow the links and make a purchase when it comes out on the 7th of December.

Boemklatsch Records

Published by Mungo on November 24, 2009

When you mention Amsterdam to someone, no doubt the first couple of images it conjures up are those of  the red light district and of the ‘coffee’ shops. But there is a thriving bass-driven music scene going on amongst all of this, with Boemklatsch Records leading the way. Spawned from one of the biggest parties in Holland, this label has a whole host of top notch artists and collaborators including Stereoheroes and Mightyfools to name but two. We have a track and a mix from Mike Mago, who is just one of the talents involved.

NiT GriT

Published by Mungo on November 21, 2009

Every now and again you stumble upon someone who’s productions really make you sit up and take notice, and this is one of those occasions. Hailing from San Jose in the US of A, NiT GriT makes some of the toughest, most atmospheric dubstep I’ve heard in a long while. Real grinding bass and one or two melodic synth lines thrown in for good measure, this guy is a real talent for sure. You’ll find two tracks below, ‘12 Gauge’ and ‘Babylon’,  both of which are brilliant in my humble opinion.

Mr Vega hails from New York is recently enjoying a surge of DJ sets in the city, including a night at the much talked about CMJ festivities. His trademark gritty electro house sound has been ruling the blog music scene for some time now and his remixes are getting big attention so it only seemed right that he provide the setting for KMB’s first release. This track takes that gritty sound and adds a heavy dose of rave and wobble, ensuring a full dance floor and grinning mugs!

Remixes come in dubstep influenced house sound from Udy (Dusted Breaks, Communicate, Prozak, Mixtape Recordings…), big room sub heavy breaks from II Tone (Standard Audio, Dusted Breaks) and noisy looping madness from Ricky Vaughn (NY). We also have a free promo remix from friend of the label Buju Ben who goes all electro on us.

DJ response to the EP has been very encouraging with Drop the Lime featuring the Udy remix in his latest podcasted mix for Clash Music. Foamo, Pirate Soundsystem, Kry Wolf & Punk Jump Up have also responded positively to the track.
