Black Noise – 2010 with a bang mix

Another tasty mixtape for you today, in the shape of  Black Noise’s 2010 with a bang mix. We featured Black Noise a while back with their awesome remix of  ‘Anyway’ by Duck Sauce, and their other equally awesome remix of ‘Jack Track’ by Tonka. Both of these are included in this mix, along with a whole host of current and future bangers. Aside from this, Black Noise have a busy year ahead of them, remixing the Futureheads and a collaboration with the excellent Mightyfools. All this and a remix of Tommie Sunshine’s ‘5am’, which is out soon and will be massive. So to sum up, we love Black Noise!

Lords Of Flatbush – 999 (Toddla T and Ross Orton Remix)

Seeing as it’s Monday and you may need cheering up,  I’d like to draw your attention to one of my favourite tunes from the back end of last year.  Lords Of Flatbush are a new (ish) band/production team from The Steel City (Sheffield for those who don’t know!), made up of Phil Jones and the vocal talents of Steve Edwards. These guys have been in the game for years, working with the likes of Cassius, Bob Sinclair and Take That! With their new project however, they are taking centre stage. Currently unsigned I’m sure it won’t be long before you’re hearing all about these guys. We have the Toddla T and Ross Orton remix of one of their best tunes ‘999′ for you here, enjoy!

Roisin Murphy – Momma’s Place (Knob Jockeys Dubstep Remix)

There’s just no stopping the Knob Jockeys at the moment. Not content with their absolutely brilliant remix of the second Kiss My Bass release ‘Wubsteppin’, the Jockeys have remixed ex-Moloko frontwoman Roisin Murphy’s new single ‘Momma’s Place’. Personally I’m a fan of Murphy’s vocals anyway, but this remix has mass appeal written all over it. Kidda – Go Up To Get Down

You are all probably quite familiar with Kidda, the name behind the massive ‘Under the Sun’ which was used in the Bacardi ad a few months ago. That track was from his album ‘Going Up’ which was released on Skint Records last year to all sorts of well deserved praise. The album was so well recieved, he decided to get a few top notch producers together to make a remixed version entitled ‘Go Up To Get Down’. The lovely people at Skint have given us three tracks from this album to give away, all at 320 high quality! Nick Thayer

Ladies and gents, I’d like to introduce you to Nick Thayer. You may or may not have heard of him before so I’ll give you a little background. Recording for Passenger Records who are managed by Aquasky, Nick Thayer is a DJ and producer with a big future ahead of him. He’s already remixed the likes of The Cuban Brothers and Sway,  and has worked with AC Slater and Trevor Loveys. He has an E.P. ‘Ca$h Money’ out on Passenger in January 2010,  which should be huge. Nick Thayer & Will Styles – Lightening Jam – Bombstrikes Dub The old Sport tune, though everyone seems to know the horns from that Liam Howlett dirtchamber mix. The vocal, believe it or not, is from a tune from Flash’s album last year.
Nick Thayer & Will Styles – Enemy Banger – Bombstrikes Dub Another jam I’d been meaning to tinker with for a while. I was underwhelmed my Diplo’s efforts with the JB’s ‘Blow Ya Head’, so I made this one.
Nick Thayer – Grey Sky Blue feat Nfa – Passenger Dub This took so many vocal sessions. There are absolutely no samples in there. I made a faux soul track so I could sample it myself. Picky or what.
Cuban Brothers – Lights Out (Nick Thayer Rmx) – CDR Love the Cuban Brothers. Don’t think this version will ever get a release as they are re-doing the vocal on it. Hrrrm.
John Ohms – King Of The Boots – CDR King of The Beats with a little more oomph. John Ohms cooks up some good shit.
Sway – Mercedes Benz (Nick Thayer Club Dub) – CDR I was so stoked when they asked me to remix Sway. And then they gave me the parts which was essentially the acapella, The 900 Number, and some airhorns and I was like a kid in a candy store. Personally I think this is one of the best things I’ve ever done.
Deekline – The Mexican – CDR Ties in nicely with the old skool theme goin on (Mantronix / 900 Number / Babe Ruth), and I think Deekline did a good job on this one. Nick Thayer – The Pressure Point feat Sporty O (Acapella) – Passenger To answer the question, I say T-ay-er but I don’t really care how anyone else pronounces it. Least of all my boy Sporty.

Riton & Primary 1 – Who’s There? (AC Slater, Nick Thayer, Mat Cant Rmx) – CDR I met up with AC at the Shambhala festival in Canada, then the next weekend he was down in Melbourne. I dragged him into the studio and we made this in an afternoon.

Gigi Barocco – The Rhythm – Cheaper Thrills I used the iPhone app Shazam to identify this when I heard it out one night. AMAZING tune.
Stanton Warriors – Shake It Up (Acapella) – Punks Shake it like it’s for the camera! Haha.
Kazey & Bulldog – For Da Real G’s (French Fries Rmx) – CDR Why hasn’t anyone used those Cape Fear / Sideshow Bob horns before?! They sound rude on a club system!

Dillinja – Twist Em Out (Proper Villains vs Nick Thayer Rmx) – CDR I love that the hoover type sounds (as heard on here / early Ram stuff) are making a massive comeback in the DnB scene.

Qemists vs Jay Z – Dust Ya Weekends Off (Nick Thayer Mash) – CDR This is a little mash I did a little while ago. You gotta love Jigga, and I think the juxtaposition works well here.
MGMT – Time To Pretend (High Contrast Rmx) – CDR High Contrast seems to own the whole ‘take big radio song and make it drum and bass’ scene, and why not. This is epic.
