After a disappointing cancellation due to venue problems we are proud to announce we are bringing the new face of all things bassline to town – THE SQUIRE OF GOTHOS.

The Squire of Gothos is two badbwoy producers from Sheffield who create possibly the most elite riddims known to mankind. TSOG is a cross between speed garage, dubstep, electro house, grime and old school hardcore. Their lack of restraint or convention, teamed with the all-out wackiness, is massively refreshing and there pretty much ain’t nothing else out there quite like it. Fresh back from a tour of the States and just weeks away from playing at the mighty Bangface Weekender, we have caught em at the perfect time.

TSOG describe their sound as “free parties in graveyards, happy hardcore on downers, electro house’s evil brother, speed garage nights with more violence, dubstep with less nerds and harder drugs, hitting a woman copper in the face with a crow-bar… FUCKING BASSLINEZ!” …. safe. If you have not yet been educated on the ways of the Squire then swing by http://www.myspace.com/thesquireofgothos and fill yer boots.

Also on the bill we have London’s OOZAT who mashes up jungle, breakcore and hardcore and has had several releases on labels including Structural Damage Records and Splattercore Records. He is always a crowd pleaser and is more than likely gonna rip you a fresh one… in a nice way of course. http://www.myspace.com/oozat

Our local guest is LP from the Analgoue camp. These lads have been putting on some quality dnb parties in and around Portsmouth over the past year, gaining pleasure from deep, dark rollers, you most certainly won’t be finding no jump up round ere. LP are promising to bring the darkness and we certainly ain’t gonna hold em back!

Room 2 this time round is in the safe hands of 21ST CENTURY DUBCLASH. Popping up at various venues across the city, TOM MAYHEM and JOEL O’BREINE have been taking their dub sound system from party to party, hosting sub-riddle nights of dubstep, jungle and breakbeat. Draggin along SIDEKICK MC to keep things movin along nicely, expect a bunch of variety, a constant assortment of sounds and styles between the two areas.

Kiss My Bass @ Halloween Overload on Spitbank Fort

Published by admin on October 18, 2009

Kiss My Bass and Tribal Medicine are co-hosting a room at the legendary Overload event from Contact this halloween, Saturday 31st October. Between the two promotional forces there will be everything from breaks to dubstep to electro to dnb and all-round general wonkiness covered. Everyone loves a good excuse to dress up, pour a couple of litres of fake blood over their chevvy chase and act a bit more mental than you can get away with on your average night out so where better to partake in such behaviour than at this beast of a party on the Spitbank Fort – a man-made military island a mile out in The Solent.

Over 30 top DJs, over 10 hours of music, over 50,000 watts of booming Funktion One sound systems across 3 arenas of anything and everything including house, electro, trance, techno, harddance, hardcore, gabba dubstep and dnb plus a chill out area and a network of dungeons to explore. What more convincing do you need?!!

The djs bringing you bass-heavy sounds in the Kiss My Bass / Tribal Medicine room are…

As you have probably realised by now, we like to throw parties all over the community and after a few requests and a handful of threats we couldn’t really resist from bringing the noise to the heart of Southsea, Albert Road. As per standard we will be transforming the venue and bringing in our own professional lighting and soundsystem and you can always expect top tune selection, a healthy splattering of wonkiness and the epic vibes that you lot create when you put your heads together.

This month’s guests come in the shape of Ignition and Buju Ben. Ignition is an Infectious Breaks / Out-Break resident plus promotional warlord who has held numerous residencies across the city since 1996. Ignition has been influenced by many styles over the years from house to hardcore to trance but now finds himself dedicated to the heaviest of breakbeat.

Buju Ben has been creating music for many years, being involved in the Under Your Nose project and with his band Swampglow. His mixtapes are regular on the KMB website so it’s a real treat to get him in the flesh. Expect a dancefloor fusion of bassline house and dubstep flavoured wobble business.

Joining our guests are the Kiss My Bass residents, well-known djs on the local scene who blend a mixture of breaks, electronica, techfunk and bassline – Udy, Vol.1, Neil Doc and Fotza.

REVERB & CUSTARD
Reverb & Custard are Laurence Scott aka Mode X & Rob Brading aka Rob Watts. The duo feast daily on a healthy diet of breaks, organic nu skool ,of course, with a big ol dollop of custard… not Rob though… he’s allergic. Thanks to the Fawcett Inn, Southside, they were able to take their breaks buffet to the pub, mixing pots, rinsin plates and droppin knives n forks all over the show, the dirty bastards. With almost 40 years of ravin’ experience between em, they can raise an impressive souffle i can tell thee. Reverb & Custard’s ingredients are simple… 100% homegrown & 100% full phatness.

PHIL HARVEY

Phil Harvey is no stranger to the Kiss My Bass world, his mixes have graced our website and his love for a range of music is always echoed in his sets. His SPL and Waster residencies have seen him entertaining large crowds and his most recent recorded mixes explore the potential of using Indie style tracks with some dancier numbers to recreate a sunrise set feeling with much success. Phil has been itching to deliver a thick and fast mix of electro, bassline, bootleg and house numbers to the KMB dance floor and we can’t wait to see him do exactly that.

As per usual, filling in the gaps we have our capable award winning residents – Udy, Vol.1, Neil Doc and Fotza bringing you their take on fidget and bassline house, techfunk, electro and party breaks. To make sure things sound and look just right we will be bringing along a beefy system and professional lighting, transforming the venue into the Kiss My Bass dancefloor you all know and love. Don’t forget this party is free before 11pm so get down there early and take the piss. If we get our asses in gear you may even get a CD or two dropped in your paws as you arrive!
